LEARN MORE ABOUT YOUR CHILD’s COGNITIVE & PSYCHOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT
At Scarborough Neuropsychology, PC, we understand that every child is unique with their own sets of strengths and challenges. As a parent it is essential to understand your child’s cognitive and psychological profile to support their growth and development. We provide evidence based standardized testing services including neuropsychological, psychological, and psychoeducational evaluations for children, adolescents, and young adults (18-21) in Baltimore County and the surrounding areas. Each evaluation is tailored to the individual in order to address specific concerns and questions. After an evaluation, families will have gained a better understanding of their child’s functioning and the necessary tools to best support their child.
Areas of functioning typically assessed include overall intellectual functioning (i.e., IQ), attention, executive functions (e.g., problem solving, working memory, set-shifting, planning, organization, etc.), verbal/language skills, nonverbal/visual spatial skills, memory/learning, processing speed, academic skills (e.g., reading, math, writing, etc.), emotional/behavioral functioning (e.g., anxiety, depression, adjustment disorder, etc.), and adaptive skills. In addition to formal testing, evaluations include a thorough clinical/diagnostic interview, consultation with teachers and/or other providers working with your family, a feedback session to review results and recommendations, as well as a personalized detailed written report.
Drs. Scarborough and McDermott are dedicated to providing their clients with quality care. They understand that it can be difficult to navigate the process of undergoing a neuropsychological/psychological evaluation and welcome the opportunity to work with you and your child.
